Yuri Kumiai General Hospital
All sickrooms command a superb view / Easy-to-understand floor composition / Broad, easy-to-walk spaces
Against a rich natural environment, the building was designed in the shape of a deformed cross, which gives patients a serene view from each sickroom. The central hall for outpatients forms a great round space (20 meters in diameter) with an open ceiling expressing the image of “Kamakura.” Consideration was also given to the long-term plan, such as the large-span structure enabling easy reform work, spaces for facilities with appropriate margins, facility arrangement that enables reconstruction work without having to relocate the site, and other measures.
