The first modernized hospital granted to China
This hospital was built in China (where medical conditions remain under development) with the first grant aid provided by the Japanese government since the restoration of diplomatic relations between Japan and China, and marks the first modernized hospital granted to China. Against such a background of various conditions, the goal was to build a hospital capable of responding to various stages of growth, change and progress in the future, and matching the level of China’s domestic technology. It is a complex facility consisting of a comprehensive hospital (1,000 sickbeds), an institute, rehabilitation facility, and lodging facilities. As for the design method, groups of independent facilities with open ends and their own function are connected via two-story corridors (malls) that serve as an axis, enabling the transfer of people, goods, information, and energy. As for the construction method, the goal was to build a building that is easy to maintain and manage, by integrating the Chinese-style PC method and Japan’s construction technologies.
