Town's “symbolic” hospital open to the community
This hospital has long served as a regional core hospital since its opening in 1973. The new hospital building was constructed with the aim of becoming the symbol of the town. For the realization of an "integrated hospital" that can provide advanced high-quality medical care, an office building from the existing building stock was renovated and enlarged to secure a sufficient floor-area ratio, taking advantage of the current permit and approval systems, in order to maximize the hospital functions. Thus, it was planned as a reliable, regional core hospital that has an external space open to the town, a well-lit lobby, and an additional high-rise building serving as a landmark as well as a "symbol" of the Takatsu region that livens up visitors to it. At the same time, it is a core disaster hospital that supports the community by ensuring safety and security during disasters with its seismic isolation structure, redundancy of energy systems, and provision of an emergency stockpile warehouse. The basic principles of hospitality were chosen to be "understandable, clear, and bright" with a goal of creating a facility where all the people can feel comfortable and comforted. The building has realized the best mix of energy and Rank “A” of CASBEE assessment, "environment-friendly, long-lasting sustainable design."
