Creation of versatile and flexible therapeutic space
This hospital is a core hospital in the Nakano and Nerima ward areas in Tokyo. In the addition of Building “A” (2014), legal restrictions on the floor-area ratio and height and problems between the existing buildings in operation were solved and a renovation plan including a future plan was made in consideration of an increase in the number of sickbeds, expansion of the surgery department, and requirement for advanced medical technology.
After the addition of Building “B” (2017), this hospital became a 451-bed hospital in total, together with the acute ward and the recovery rehabilitation ward with various rehabilitation rooms annexed to it. In addition, the upgrading of the treatment department is being pursued to provide cutting-edge medical care. Efforts are being made also on improvement of amenity of users: New areas such as an auditorium, kitchen, hospital shop, food court, and rooftop deck were built. The hospital site is close to Egota-no-Mori Park full of greenery so that the peaceful and comfortable atmosphere of the nature was incorporated into the plan. The exterior was designed with earth colors as the keynote. The densities of colors and the shades of ribs were used to represent "fluctuations of the nature."
The interior was designed with muted colors as the keynote. Thus, the impression of "habitation" was given to the hospital standing in a residential area.
