Jikei University Hospital
An urban-style hospital built through a long-term master process based on innovation cycle
Jikei University has a long history since its inception in 1881. As both university and hospital buildings are located on the same premises, the site has become too narrow and the buildings have deteriorated, resulting in the launch of a renovation project. Along “Hospital Street” (a key line of traffic at the site), buildings are to be constructed individually, with each being given its own function. As the first step, this “Central Building” is to be constructed for mainly accommodating the central consultation & treatment department and wards.
